Snow Daze

Since winter appears to have finally left us, I thought I would post the pictures that Olivia and I took on the (hopefully) final snow day (March 8th) for this winter.

Having any accumulation of snow in March is very rare for this area, so it was with real excitement that Olivia received the news that school had been cancelled for the day.

There wasn't much snow, and I wanted to make sure that she had a chance to play in the snow before it all melted, which most of it had by noon, so away we went.

As you can see, the grass is already peeking through the the snow, but there IS enough to make a snowball...

...which was promptly thrown at Mrs. Gunfighter's car.

Although the snow wasn't very deep, there was enough for vigorous Snow Angel effort...

...which paid of handsomely:

Olivia decided to make more snow angels...

...and proudly said: "Look, Daddy, it's our family! The big one is you."

Everybody say it with me: "Awwwwwwwwwwww!"

I am marvelling at the fact that itty bitty amount of snow equalled a snow day.

We just got that much snow this morning.

I may need to consider moving further south.

Well, our county had 15 snow days built into the school year, just in case... when we had that little bit of snow, we still had seven or eight left on the books. I can't help but think that there was a bit of "oh, what the hell" involved in the decision to close school that day.

Suddenly my little men discovered sledding could be done in the backyard (instead of driving somewhere). Our neighbor's driveway was plowed and the pile created a terrific snow hill.

Awwwww! That looks like a lot of fun. Suddenly I'm sad that it rarely snows here....

Awwww, that is sweet. Her snow angels look good. I love to make them, but can't seem to get up without ruining them. Darn big butt o'mine.

Wow - those snow angels look awesome! Just the right amount of snow so you can see the outline in the pavement. Great job, Olivia!!
