I saw this particular bumper sticker while I was driving home from our vacation last week.

This little gem appears at the League of the south

If this flag DOESN'T offend you, you either need a history lesson or you are a potential traitor.

I had a snarky comment all thought up about this... but I'll just say that this is just plain stupid.

Discuss.

This public service announcement was brought to you by: General William T. Sherman

People are so lame. If I was in charge, these people would be "taken for a car ride" like Old Yeller...

Oh for crying out loud. Sometimes I find it so difficult to believe there are still people who support that confederate flag crap. And then I just drive a block or two and I see some bozo with a bumper sticker, or even worse, a FLAG in their front yard. A lot of us in the South know quite a bit of Civil War history and have ancestors who fought for the Confederacy. But the vast majority of us are really normal people who understand why that flag is so offensive. I don't know *why* it is that some people just don't get it. Are they idiots? Probably. (I could make comments about the Southern gene pool here, but I'll refrain.) OK, I'll end my rant now. I could go on for forever....

There is a confederate head shop (aka KKK Stop-n-Shop) about 60 miles north of the coast. Deels and I used to make a point to ''browse'' on our way out of town. Made them nervous, made us laugh.

I don't have much nice to say here. But if you could please go and take a look at my blog and... Well... Go from there!

Oh, it's so awful. I actually have a confederate flag, I'm almost embarrassed to say. My great, great grandfather fought for the south in the Civil War. He watched his father get killed in the war and said, "I don't believe in any of this. What am I doing here?" So he ran away to the West, joining some Mormon pioneers on his way, who took great care of him. And I am the proud inheritor of his original confederate flag. And while I love the story behind this particular flag, rest assured that it will never, ever be displayed!

Good heavens. Please tell me these t-shirts are all vintage pieces from 100 years ago (anachronistic references to Iraq and all)!

That does NOT surprise me. I spent 8 years living in a small town in South Carolina. The things I heard there turned my stomach. It was assumed by some (not all) that because I was white it was OK to say some incredibly racist things. I spent most of the first year argueing w/ those people. The arguement usually involved some horsesh!t about their heritage. If it was heritage they were honoring then they shouldn't fly the confederate BATTLE flag. The flag that didn't make an appearence until the civil rights movement of the 50's and 60's. They themselves don't know the history most are just frucking dumbass idiots. -Sorry this just gets my panties in a twist. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flags_of_the_Confederate_States_of_America

I eventually found some like minded people and I didn't see it as much. I never forgot it was there, like the heat you get used to it but you don't forget it. It was a hell of a shock for a liberal girl from up north!

Oops tried to add a link to Wiki that has all the flags of the confederate states of america.

Unfortunately, I have seen these out and about here in Hillbilly Hell. Yet there are some of us here that are slightly more evolved and choose not to embrace something so offensive! Unfortunately, I am not convinced that some of the people who proudly fly this have any idea of the meaning!

I'm originally from Upstate NY. About 1 hour from Harriet Tubman's house and Susan B. Anthony's. Maybe 45 minutes from the location of the 1st Women's Rights Convention.

And my Uncle has a Confederate flag in the back window of his truck. It's not uncommon at all.

I think we are regressing. Seriously.

Woah. Seriously? There are just no words...

We'll allow this flag to be displayed in museums in Liberia, It is a good reminder why Black Africans / Africa Americans need to unite.

Seriously, I avoid any business or individual who displays the confederate flag.

That is really scary. Whenever I see a confederate bumper sticker on a car, I always look at the driver and glare.
