Shoot 'Em Up Friday, The Video Event!

Without preamble, I give you "Shoot 'Em Up Friday", The video event!

Well, that was fun!

My first time at bat doing any sort of online video... I am moderately satisfied with the results. Clearly, I have a lot to learn about editing and about how to edit, upload, and post what is, essentially, five minutes of video without having to use four or five different YouTube uploads... If any of you techno-types have any insight to share, I'm all ears.

I hope you liked it.

This made my day! And I have no idea how to play with video in the blog yet.

Oh, and you were quoted in the Blog Log section of Express today, from your post about "The Secret"!

Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Shoot 'Em Up Friday on VIDEO! That was AWESOME! I loved it.

And I totally have a crush on you now.

(Don't worry. Dave does, too.)

As for video editing, I use DV Gate video editing software that came on my Vaio and just learned to use it by tooling around. Well, "tooling around" is the technical term.

Anyhoo - great post! You rock, Gunfighter.

The best advice I ever got when learning to shoot and edit video is to always hold a shot three times as long as you think you will need it when you are shooting inserts. I would probably have shot separate insert shots of the damage to the plating from various angles and then edited it in over your narration. Mind you, I haven't edited video since I was doing it from two tapes at the cable studio, but I imagine the principles in digital editing are more or less the same.

That was purdy cool!

Herr Meow approves-- he was almost glassy-eye with excitement.

Well, now I know never to jump into a suit of armor for protection if I'm at a museum when a gun fight breaks out.

Yay for vlogs! Nice job!

Cool, calm, dignified and authoritative--exactly how I imagined you would sound.

Very nicely done. Thanks for the live demo.

That was just great!! You are a natural. I think some cable channel should track you down for a show.

I agree with Janet. Take longer than you think to "show" your point (e.g. bullet holes). I've had some media training so it not only helps visually but also for comprehension.

That was fantastic! I like the video version. I know absolutely nothing about shooting and editing video, but I think you got the job done.

You sir, should get a job doing a "Mythbusters" type show. I would gladly watch that. This was the highlight of my day. You ROCK!!

Wow. That was eye-poppingly good, Gunfighter! It has really brought what was already great up an extra notch.

Impressive stuff.

Way cool! And I noticed an Apple icon on your t-shirt. If you have a Mac and you have the iLife Suite on your computer, you can use iMovie to do your video uploading and editing. Try it out! It's fun software.

Hey Brother!

Excellent presentation!

I bet you're very good at instructing at the range. You're very calm and confident - two of the most important things for someone to be around people and firearms.

Take care, GF!

You have very good camera presence, my man. Good work.

I use Google Video, and when you want to upload a large video, you can use their free desktop program rather than online program that limits you to 100 MB. I think YouTube has the same thing. I don't know nuthin' about editin' no video, tho', so you'se on yo own dere!

Glad you all enjoyed it!

Just wait until next week!

xzllrMan, it's bad enough that I have to admit that a man in a kilt could seriously kick my butt. Now you are doing video blogs so that realization can be made more clear.

Thanks alot!

Great post man.

Ok that totally ROCKED!!

For video editing I use the photobucket. It's really easy to mesh together different videos and of the sort....
