Swirling Thoughts

There is a lot of stuff swirling around in my head this morning... pardon me while I spew for a moment.

* Michael Buble` is coming to the DC area, and I tried to win tickets from a radio station (97.1, Wash FM) while driving up I-95, in my squad car. I didn't win. The bastards.

* My car...

...is in the shop it's getting nearly a thousand dollars worth of repairs. Just before vacation. F***!

* We have a PT Cruiser as a rental while my car is being repaired. I have to say that I like it much more than I thought I would... It has lots of leg room, which makes it for me, right there.

* I heard a cover of Aretha Franklin's "Natural Woman" just as I was crossing the Beltway this morning (DC readers know what I mean). The singer was pretty good, but in several parts of the song, I thought she sounded like Dolly Parton (Now one of you will tell me that it WAS Dolly Parton, right?)

* I am reading a book about the history of the Knights Templar right now, and I am digging it.

* I am getting an MRI in about an hour.

* I filmed NEXT week's "Shoot 'em up Friday", yesterday. I'll do this week's tomorrow.

* I just finished reading a really crappy book by a guy named Douglas McKinnon, called The Last Days of America. This guy should sell insurance, instead. Thriller my ass!

* The Rugby World Cup starts in just under a month. I am so geeked up for it, it isn't funny... not that the United States has a snowball's chance in hell of getting out of it's first pool match against England.

* Tomorrow, I will post the Old Church Lady rant.

* An incompetent medical office staff member recently made me want to commit an act of extreme violence... and y'all know that Gunfighter is a professional practitioner of the art, right?

* I went to get a bottle of water on my way to work, a few hours ago... and realized that I had no cash in my pocket!

* It is hot in the DC area. No, I mean REALLY hot.... and exceptionally muggy.
I'm hot AND bothered!

* I'm announcing another round of "You Pick The Topic"so if any of you want to hear me spew on anything in particular, let me hear from you. Email is fine if you don't want to ask publicly.

Good luck with the MRI.

I cannot WAIT for the Church Lady rant. Really.

But nothing on "Deputy Chief *sshole" (I noticed you changed it). That would be one of my topic requests. Especially since you do practice the art, are expected to remain calm, and yet had a stunning outburst, in bullet format.

Lastly, there was a very sad piece in the Boston Globe yesterday about the rate of homelessness among returning Afghan/Iraq war vets. One quote said that Vietnam vets would keep it (relatively)together for up to 10 years before becoming homeless but the younger vets are becoming homeless within a year or two of coming home. What is your view on how our troops are being treated when they come home?

It is also hot and muggy in Michigan and my air conditioner gave out over the weekend. Since I saw something like this coming, I have a service contract from our local utility that covers it. A nice man came to my house yesterday, removed the blower and is going to do his best to find or build the parts it needs before tonight. Fortunately for me the skunks decided to visit a different neighborhood last night and I was able to sleep with the windows open. I do so hate skunks.

Hate to double post, but I have a rant topic. I came to CWD too late for most of your legendary fights with Sir Isaac Brock, so I'd like to hear your take on the War of 1812.

It IS hot in DC this week! I thought I was going to get a break from the blazing Phoenix "hit you in the face" heat. Now I'm just suffocating . . .

SMID,

I won't let you down on either of those points in the coming weeks.

Regarding our veterans. I'll be speaking on that, too... and it won't be pretty.

Janet,

You know me well, my friend... I was just tinkering with a post about the War of 1812.

Kate,

It's a coed "orange" day here in DC today, which means bad air quality, so stay indoors as much as you can.

Can't wait for Church Lady rant. As for a new topic (I think), how about giving us your Gunfighter/Law Enforcer perspective on Gun Control. Ought to make for interesting reading and comments if not controversy!!

You left all your money in the pocket of your shorts...which I found when I picked them up from the floor this morning!! (I did not confiscate the cash.)

Thanks, babe!

115 with the heat index here. Ugh.

Good luck with the MRI. Now I'm off to read your gun control piece.

I can't wait for the Old Lady Rant....
DO TELL!

I love finding money in the hubbie's pockets... or in the laundry.

you pick the topic?

How has fatherhood changed you?

Mrs. Gunfighter we gotta talk!

You take the money. He leaves it on the floor I say it's finder's keepers.

I can't bring myself to leave work because it means I will have to outside.

Mrs. Gunfighter ROCKS! Callin' you out for leaving your laundry on the floor!

Actually, I do something similar all the time only I drape my cash-laden pants/shorts on a bench in the bedroom. The other day, I picked up my stuff from the dry cleaners and discovered $8.00 in the pocket of one pair of pants!

But seriously, though. Topics, topics, topics.... Hm. How about "Global Warming: Fact or Fiction?" Playing off of that, "Why Most--But Not All--Conservatives Are a Few a Gasps Shy of a Breath of Fresh Air."

It never fails...I try and I try to find Rugby on my Direct TV and always come up empty-handed.

I am begging you - tell me where I can see the action!

I hope everything is well!
