Shocking... Just Shocking

This story is from the late edition of the June 20th Washington Post

"An armed security guard at Walter Reed Army Medical Center unholstered his gun and began firing at another guard during an argument this morning, D.C. police said, shocking employees who were driving through the busy main entrance on Georgia Avenue NW.

No one appeared to have been injured during the dispute, which happened shortly after 8:30 a.m. The guard who did the shooting was taken into custody, said Cmdr. Hilton Burton of the Metropolitan Police Department's 4th District police station.

Burton said the guard fired between six and 10 shots from his service weapon, but the other guard -- who ran onto Georgia Avenue -- was not hit..."

My friends, this story is shocking.

Shocking.

I am shocked and appalled!

Not because the guard was shooting at his colleague, that happens more than you'd really want to believe. No, I'm talking about the appalling marksmanship demonstrated by the shooter.

If yours truly had trained that guy... the outcome would have been different, I can assure you.

Yeah, 10 shots and no hits - very poor marksmanship. Kind of like how the "bad guys" shoot in movies - 10 fully auto rapid fire weapons miss the stalwart hero who manages to knock them all out with one cylinder full of bullets out of his .38 special

Gunfighter: the quick end to colleague disputes.

Exactly!

Like when Barnaby Jones used to shoot the gun out of the suspects hand from across the street, on a rooftop, with his Chief's Special with a 2 inch barrel.

LOL!! Super Des sums it up nicely!!

Hahahaha! I thought for sure you were going to say that it was misreported or the details were skewed. But no! You made it all about you! Good on ya, Gunfighter! That made me giggle....
And now I am thinking about pulling up an A-Team re-run so I can see the whole bad markmanship in action!

You're right. I don't want to know how often armed colleagues shoot at each other. THAT was what I thought you were appalled about.

Silly me.

First I thought "Holy crap!" But then you made me laugh.

Okay, Barnaby was something, he always held his gun kind of like you'd hold a pencil - loosely, and he was always shooting one-handed, with his gun next to his hip - amazing aim that.

Well contract security officers are known to do that sort of thing, from time to time, unfortunately.

...and welcome back, SMID... how's the vacation?

The one who ran away to call the real cops reminds me of Jack Spade from I'm Gonna Get You Sucka. -- "They shootin'!! They shootin'!!"

I guessed that's where you were going with that. I suspect I might know you too well. I'm proud of that.

SMID,

Of course I was appalled about it... couldn't you see my smirk from there?

Oh, man, you crack me up. Actually, when I read this story, I immediately thought of you. I think my thought went like this: "Dumb *ss rent-a-cop! Obviously he never learned how to fire a gun accurately. It's a miracle he didn't hit himself! I oughta take a lesson from the Gunfighter!"

My personal take on the story: the dude was HIGH.

As for Super Des' tagline for you: sublime!

Whoops. That should have said, "HE ought to take a lesson from Gunfighter," not I.

Although, maybe I should take a lesson. With a fool like that firing off a gun in the vicinity of my neighborhood, it might not be a bad idea to be able to shoot back and ask questions later.

I think it's shocking that senior citizens are shooting each other over a card game.
