Conversations With Soccergirl (V)

The following took place two days ago, while I was reading SMID's blog. Soccergirl looked over my shoulder at SMID's Iraq war cost-counter, and said the following:

SG: Daddy? Why do those numbers keep going up?

GF: Because the cost of the war in Iraq keeps going up.

SG: Why does the cost keep going up?

GF: Because the longer the war lasts, the more it will cost.

SG: (Silent for a moment)

SG: That's a lot of money, daddy.

GF: Yes, it is babe.

SG: Hmm. Maybe it would be a good idea not to have wars.

GF: Yes, I think you're right babe.

SG: Goodnight daddy.

GF: Goodnight, sweetpea.

Wisdom. In it's simplest form.

It is a cliche, but out of the mouths of babes. What a sweetheart, and a smart one.

Smart, smart kid.

All of us at my house are pretty fascinated by the ticker on SMID's site too. Yikes.

Smart girl, GF. Kids know so much more than for which we give them credit...

If she can figure this out so easily, how come GW can't?
(file under: pointless questions, thank you.)

During a press conference about the White House progress report on Iraq GW said "I will base my decisions on principles not politics."

Um.... sir.... how about basing your decisions ON FACTS?!?!?!

And thanks for sharing the site with SG. My kids are starting ask what types of messages I'm getting after I write my "articles" (their word).

Way to go, Soccer Girl. I knew there was a reason she and I hit it off so well!

P.S. I think Soccer Girl should start a letter writing campaign to the President. Of course, he's such a simpleton, the eloquence of children will be completely lost on him. I wonder if he ever ponders/realizes that his grandchildren are going to reap the consequences of his legacy? Probably not, huh? (I really need to give up wishful thinking, 'cause it's gettin' me nowhere.)

In the original fable, it was a child who told the emperor he had no clothes! Wonder who is gonna tell GW...(soon please!)? Way to go SG!

Let me know if Soccer Girl gets the message to Bush; excellent bit of wisdom.
